Created : 29 January 2020
Beating cancer is a remarkable feat worth celebrating.
On Wednesday, students and staff at Calabar High School in St Andrew were in celebration mode for one of their own – Cornel Grant, a lower school student who beat a rare form of the deadly disease.
Cornel returned to classes at the Red Hills Road-based institution on Wednesday morning, after battling the ‘Big C’ for two years, the school shared via Twitter.
Boys at the school formed a “guard of honour” for Cornel during devotion, welcoming him with loud cheers and applause.
Watch the heart-warming video below:
“He was escorted by Mrs Jarrett, Guidance Counsellor and Mrs Kelly Jones, his Grade Supervisor and guardian angel who took the initiative to lead the fundraising efforts and kept the support going,” Calabar tweeted.
The school raised over $250,000 to aid in Cornel’s recovery.
This morning we welcomed back to school, student Cornel Grant after being out for 2 years battling cancer!
