Resident of Eight Miles Bull Bay, Nicholson Alexander, explains to Loop News how his house was compromised following extensive soil erosion as the banks of the nearby river crumbled following heavy and persistent rainfall on the weekend that was caused by Tropical Storm Laura.

The storm impacted neighbouring Haiti where nine people, including a 10-year-old girl was killed. The girl died after a tree fell on her house.

Alexander said he and other family members would be seeking shelter with relatives as it is too dangerous to remain in the house, especially with more rain in the forecast.
