The 95-year-old was on Monday presented with the keys to her new home by Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie and Spanish Town's Mayor, Norman Scott.

Considering the water problems facing some parts of Mendez District and the wider Point Hill area, a tank was included in the project. The tank has been equipped with a water catchment system.

Minister McKenzie said despite Johnson's age, the authorities had no reservation giving her a new home once the recommendation was made.

Johnson showed she was still capable of caring for herself and her new home as she set about immediately sweeping the yard and washing up dishes.

The vivacious senior citizen said she loved the home which has made her "proud".
