Fire service officials have said that damage to the Mandeville Courthouse in Manchester from Thursday morning’s blaze at the premises has been estimated at $35 million.

Reports are that the fire started at approximately 3.50 am. Firefighters responded and were able to put out the blaze after close to an hour of battling the blaze.

This was not before the judges' office and items in it, along with the roof area, were destroyed.

“The clerk of court's office upstairs, and the bailiff’s office downstairs, were also damaged. This was, however, water and smoke damage,” a fire brigade official told Loop News.

Reports are that passers-by saw smoke coming from the building and called fire fighters, who responded to the alarm.
