Warring bus driver/municipal police officer ‘planning legal actions’

The bus driver and the municipal police officer who were last Tuesday caught on video locked in a violent, public confrontation in Spanish Town, St Catherine, are planning to take legal action against each other.

The development was confirmed by an officer from the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

Full details of the counter claims from the men are still sketchy, but sources said both individuals are accusing each other of assault.

Last week, the police report that they were probing the violent confrontation between the municipal police officer and the bus driver, which reportedly occurred inside the Spanish Town bus park.

The municipal police officer had to be hospitalised after being reportedly hit with a stone in the face, which was said to have resulted in a broken jaw, sources said.

Reports are that the bus driver also sustained injuries, as he was to have been struck by the municipal officer.

In one of a number of videos of the incident prior to the violent attack, the bus driver was seen threatening two municipal police officers amid the use of expletives.
