Warrants issued for St Elizabeth man facing a host of serious charges
Another warrant has been issued for a St Elizabeth man who is facing several serious criminal charges, including rape and abduction, with even deeper trouble ahead.
He has been identified as Dwight Ian Stephens, who could be facing even more serious charges, as a woman whom he allegedly doused with a corrosive substance before setting her ablaze in February, has died, reportedly from the injuries that were sustained in the blaze.
Stephens has been on the run since he reportedly doused 32-year-old bartender, Shawna Esson, of Malvern, St Elizabeth with the substance before setting her ablaze on February 26. Esson died in hospital on March 16 while undergoing treatment.
A separate warrant was issued for Stephens’ arrest when he failed to answer to his name in the St Elizabeth Circuit Court recently. He was before the court on charges of rape, abduction and grievous sexual assault.
The police are asking Stephens to report to them immediately.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is being asked to contact the Black River police at 965-2026, or the nearest police station.
