Residents of 'Zimbabwe' protest against news reports on the murder of a 17-year-old girl in the community.

A man who was on the Kingston Western Police most wanted list was shot dead during an early morning operation on Thursday in Arnett Gardens.

Police said the man, identified only by his alias 'Stella', was fatally shot at about 5:30 am after he engaged lawmen in a gun battle in a section of the community known as ‘Zimbabwe’.

‘Stella’ is the third wanted man in the division to either have been arrested or killed over the last week, according to the police. Over the same one-week period, the law enforcement officials said they have seized a total of four illegal firearms from the streets of the Kingston Western Police Division.

‘Zimbabwe’ made headlines recently after a 17-year-old student, Micholle Moltan, was shot and killed, and her 12-year-old sister shot and injured, by gunmen who invaded their home in the community.

Residents of ‘Zimbabwe’ held a protest days after the incident against what they said were reports that the alleged perpetrators are from the community, which they said unfairly painted the community in a negative light.
