Visitors, reportedly from Antiguan football team, held on drug charges

Two foreign nationals were reportedly arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Monday afternoon after ganja was allegedly found in their luggage as they attempted to board a flight out of the country.

While the police have confirmed the development in general, there has so far been some hesitation to confirm reports that the individuals involved were members of the Antigua and Barbuda national football team to Sunday's international friendly match against Jamaica.

The accused persons were not allowed to board their flight out of the island around 2:00 p.m. on Monday, after the marijuana was allegedly found in their baggage.

They were taken to the Narcotics Police Division for processing, including interrogation by investigators.

Further details will be provided as soon as these become available.
