Video: Trafalgar Division residents benefit from health fair
Caretaker for the Trafalgar Division, Fabian Brown recently hosted the fourth annual health and wellness fair for the area, providing a variety of health services to residents.
US-based speech and hearing specialists from Malloy and Yale Universities as well as Bridgeport Hospital concentrated on children within the division, assessing their readiness for learning and engagement within the school environment.
The students at Burke’s Basic School, St Francis Primary, New Perpetual and Fellowship Early Childhood Centre were recipients of examinations and treatment.
Where challenges were identified parents and teachers were advised of the necessary actions to be taken in order to improve the child’s ability to function at their developmental level.
Other specialists addressed chronic illnesses prevalent among the aging population.
Residents expressed their gratitude caretaker, Fabian Brown who was instrumental in the planning and execution of the week-long health fair.
Paediatrician, Dr Mary Lou Gaeta stated that the experience has been fulfilling for the medical team despite the various respiratory and viral illnesses identified. Emphasis has been placed on training the patients and parents to understand how and when to treat their illnesses.
