Video: Students gear up for Rita Marley public speaking competition

The Rita Marley Foundation’s public speaking competition will be held on Friday, February 15, inside the Main Library at the University of the West Indies.

Like the four previous editions, the competition has attracted talented high school participants, vying for the top prize of $50,000 and hoping to enhance their ability to engage with the general public.

In the first round, the teenagers will speak on reparations to Africa. Those who advance to the second round will speak on an unannounced topic, which they will have to eloquently deliver to impress the judges.

The contestants are eagerly awaiting the competition and Loop News’ videographer Marlon Reid caught up with a few of them at the Bob Marley Museum last Friday.

Watch the video to see what they had to say.
