Shaundel Campbell considers herself to be a complete artist. She overcame severe depression to start Roux Art House.

Overwhelmed by the pressure to take up a career in a traditional field, Shaundel Campbell fell into depression as a student at the University of the West Indies.

“There was a point when I didn’t want to get out of bed, and I couldn’t find the courage to even go to school,” Campbell reflected.

There was one outlet that Campbell had however- art.

“I always loved art, but was told I couldn’t make a living from that. So I completely stopped drawing in high school,” she said.

The 21-year-old quit university (for now) to pursue her own business, Roux Art House, specializing in body painting, artwork, tattoo designs among other things.

“I consider myself to be a complete artist,” Campbell told Young People in Business.
