The Sagicor Foundation has officially closed out its 2018/19 Adopt-A-School programme with the unveiling of major renovation work completed at three early childhood institutions this year.

The handover ceremonies, held at the Chantilly Gardens ECI in Savanna-la-mar, Westmoreland; the Tobolski Basic School in Brown’s Town, St. Ann; and the Clifton Basic School in Portmore, St Catherine, included a walkthrough by Sagicor Foundation representatives, as well as Early Childhood Commission (ECC) stakeholders and members of the school communities.

Some $12 million was invested in the upgrade of the three schools, resulting in significant improvements to the physical infrastructure, as well as the addition of well-needed learning and play material and equipment.

In addition to the renovation work carried out at the adopted schools, the Sagicor Foundation engaged them in several meaningful initiatives throughout the year, including a Christmas treat, a back-to-school health tour, as well as reading day and teachers’ day activities.

Alysia White, Executive Director, Sagicor Foundation, said the Adopt-A-School programme reflects the Foundation’s commitment to education and youth development.

“At Sagicor, we believe in doing our part to support development in our country and we do so by giving back to the communities which we serve. This initiative has had such a meaningful and positive impact and improved so many lives since its inception, and this reinforces our commitment to its success each year,” she said.
