Rory-Craig Walker considers himself to be a practical entrepreneur who is constantly looking for products and services that can solve problems.

He’s conceptualized a few applications in the past, including one that could pinpoint robbery hotspots, and another where human resource personnel can track vacation time taken by employees.

But none so far have seen the success enjoyed by Jamaican Care Packages Limited, a local supplier of primarily local foods shipped to people overseas.

“In one month this year, we surpassed our total sales registered last year,” Walker told Young People in Business.

Two years later, the Campion College alumnus is supplying up to 80 products, including snacks and various treats to people in the USA, Canada, UK, Japan, China, Sweden and Switzerland, to name just a few countries.

He’s has shipped items such as snacks, confectionary, and even in one instance – caked soap.

Customers have the option of purchasing pre-arranged packages, or selecting their own items.

The trained web developer hopes to expand the business to cater to emigrants of Caribbean territories such as Trinidad and Tobago.
