A stroll down the Boardwalk Beach in Portmore, St Catherine last weekend wasn't the fun and frolic one would have imagined.
Instead, according to one female Loop Jamaica reader, it was the complete opposite - a tiptoeing exercise to avoid the garbage strewn across the beach.
Officials have for years bemoaned the fact that the island's beaches are inundated by garbage, especially plastic and other non-degradable or slow degradable material.
Each September, various local groups join in the International Coastal Clean-Up movement, engaging citizens to remove trash and debris from beaches and waterways across the island.
