Nine people including a 60-year-old lady were left homeless after fire of unknown origin gutted a six bedroom house in Clarendon on Tuesday

Three of the victims are said to be students who were left with just the clothes on their backs as the fire destroyed most of their belongings, residents told Loop News.

No one was physically injured.

Reports are that about 10.30 am, residents called the fire department after smoke was seen coming from the concrete dwelling in Toll Gate close to the main road.

Fire units later arrived and, after close to an hour, the blaze was brought under control and extinguished by the firefighters.

However, the dwelling was destroyed.
