Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie says plans are being finalised for the construction of a new drainage system to address flooding along Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston.

While on a tour of the area Wednesday, McKenzie said the construction of the new drainage system will be spearheaded by the National Works Agency (NWA) and the Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ), and will take on a model akin to that of the Sandy Gully which he says has been very beneficial for the Corporate Area.

The minister made the visit to Marcus Garvey Drive following flooding of the area on Tuesday, which led to a gridlock across the Corporate Area. Watch the video below.
