With five children between them, Shapea Lazarus and Farrah Cheuk know all too well about the stresses that come with being a parent, particularly during the back-to-school period.

It is from that background and experience that the duo decided to offer a service of sourcing and delivering textbooks and school supplies, especially during the busy back-to-school period.

“We started with back-to-school services, after experiencing the stresses that come with back-to-school preparations,” Lazarus said. “Going from bookstore to bookstore, getting the wrong books sometimes… I just had to find an easier route.”

And so, the two sat out to source, wrap, package and deliver textbooks for family and friends.

That venture bore fruit for the two, resulting in them leaving their full-time jobs with a local financial institution, to build Kozy Korner Books N More in 2013.

Today, Kozy Korner not only serves as a convenient source of textbooks and school supplies but also an independent children’s bookstore.

“We were seeing strong demand for local children’s books, particularly from parents overseas who wanted to gift their children with books that they could relate to,” said Cheuk.

The store not only sources reading materials for children but hosts several activities for the young ones and parents also.
