Video: Man proposes to girlfriend at Red Rose for Gregory Concert

A year and a half into their relationship, Darrien Williams knew that Alicia Newman was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

He wanted to make it a grand moment but bided his time for the right occasion. Then came the Red Rose For Gregory concert, a Valentine concert in honour of Jamaican singer, Gregory Isaacs.

The event provided Williams with the perfect opportunity to ask the love of his life for her hand in marriage.

Watch as Loop videographer, Marlon Reid captured the moment.

Headliner and final act of the event, Peabo Bryson was in the middle of his performing his single, “If Ever You’re In My Arms Again”, when Williams took Newman to the side of the stage, got down on one knee, with ring in hand and popped the question to screams and cheers from friends and other patrons at the Liguanea Club Golf Academy in New Kingston

The Grammy-winner was about to deliver his hit collaboration with Roberta Flack,  ‘Tonight I Celebrate My Love For You’ when the excitement caught his attention.

He urged the audience to cheer the couple, before inviting the two on stage, with one of his backup singers, who performed Flack’s section of the song.
