Students at the Spanish Town High School in St Catherine recently became the first to benefit from a targeted social and cultural intervention with the resumption of the ‘I am Purpose’ Tour by the Ministry of National Security in partnership with the Ministry of Education.

The launch featured performances from ‘Purpose Calling’ gospel artiste, Rondell Positive, who engaged the high school students in a ‘reasoning’ session as well as a short music concert, as well as fellow gospel artist Dunamis Reignz.

Vice-Principal Leopold Porter described the exercise as “a wonderful experience” and said the minister and his team gave a positive, uplifting and spiritual message of tremendous encouragement and benefit to the students.

Rondell Positive lauded the initiative, noting that had he had the benefit of such counselling when he was a high schooler, he would have improved his life much earlier.

The ‘I am Purpose’ School Tour will focus on schools in St. Andrew and St. Catherine and continued at the Bridgeport High School, Denham Town High School and the Holy Trinity High School.

The initiative started in September 2018 and is spearheaded by the Ministry of National Security’s Crime Prevention and Community Safety Unit (CPSU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information.

It forms a part of the Ministry’s Five Pillar Crime Reduction Strategy with emphasis on Crime Prevention through Social Development.
