Teachers and parents had a noticeable 'pep' in their step on Tuesday morning as students made their way to test centres to sit the first component of the Primary Exit Profile (PEP), the new national secondary school entrance examination.

The roll-out of PEP - which replaced the Grade Six Achievement Test - has not been without controversy as school administrators argued that they were not given sufficient time to prepare for the curriculum.
