Four people were rushed to hospital following a traffic accident in downtown Kingston on Tuesday morning.

Reports are that about 8am, a black Toyota Wish motor car was travelling in a southerly direction from Pechon Street towards the waterfront when, upon reaching the intersection with Port Royal Street, it collided with a vehicle going in a westerly direction towards Marcus Garvey Drive before crashing into a light pole.

Four occupants of the Toyota were injured and subsequently rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital. Their conditions are not known at this time.

Meanwhile, it is being alleged that the driver of the Toyota Wish had failed to obey a red light at the intersection, resulting in the crash. Loop News video editor Shawn Barnes was on the scene in the immediate aftermath of the crash. See footage below.
