Acting Education Minister, Karl Samuda has welcomed findings of the National Education Inspectorate (NEI), which indicate that the nation’s schools have shown improvement in a number of key areas.

He was speaking Friday, January 24 at the Pembroke Hall High School in St Andrew as the findings of the new NEI report were announced.

The NEI, an agency of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, visited 653 schools, including 554 primary and 199 secondary schools between September 2015 and June 2019 and gathered data on several performance indicators.

This data was compared to the findings of the previous NEI report, which collected baseline data from schools over the period 2010 to 2015.

The new report indicates improvements in all performance indicators.

Samuda welcomed the development, saying that the findings and recommendations of the report will form part of the ministry’s strategy to improve the quality of education in public schools.

The findings of the report have also been provided to schools.
