VIDEO: Crash on Portmore toll road sends vehicle into the sea

Two motorists - a male and female - are in hospital following a two-way motor vehicle crash along the Portmore toll road in St Andrew on Saturday.

Reports are that at about 7:00 a.m., the female was driving a grey Axio motorcar along the toll road when a male travelling behind her in a red CRV, lost control of his vehicle.

Police told Loop News that the CRV slammed into the back of the Axio motorcar.

The police said reports they received were that the man lost consciousness while driving.

The impact of the crash sent the Axio off the road through the fencing close to the road, and into the sea.

The CRV ended up slamming into a section of the fencing and overturning.

A group of passers-by saw what was happening and went to the rescue of the two stricken motorists.

The woman was removed from her vehicle that later sunk in the water, while the man was removed from the CRV. Both persons were rushed to a hospital, where they have both been admitted.

Their conditions are unknown at this stage.
