Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says the industry is poised for another record year, with significant growth expected this winter season.
“We should be in the region of about 650,000 to 700,000 for this winter season… With a further 120,000 seats of airlift. We see a five per cent growth over last season as very feasible,” Bartlett said.
Addressing the implementation of new automated immigration kiosks at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay earlier this week, Minister Bartlett said it reflected Jamaica’s consistent leadership in the industry regionally.
“What this has done is establish firmly Jamaica’s leadership in the use of technology as a tool to enable visitor facilitation and to deliver a seamless visitor experience. Jamaica is the first country in the English-speaking Caribbean to implement these kiosks”, he said.
Bartlett added that the Government was looking ahead to other enhancements to that experience, including the C-5 form and, later, facial recognition.
