Female vendor dies from freak accident in Falmouth

A female vendor in Trelawny died as a result of injuries she sustained during a bizarre motor vehicle crash in the parish capital, Falmouth, on Wednesday.

Two other persons were injured in the collision.

The deceased is 56-year-old Monica Keane of Daniel Town district, Trelawny.

Reports from the police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) are that about 6:00 p.m., Keane was standing behind her Toyota Townace minibus, which was parked on the left side of the roadway across from the gate to the Falmouth Public General Hospital, when tragedy struck.

The police said the driver of a Toyota Corolla motorcar that was travelling in an easterly direction, reportedly lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road; collided into a tree and then slamming into the bus, hitting Keane and another man.

Keane was taken to the hospital along with the driver and the other injured man, but she succumbed to her injuries.

The other man was admitted in serious but stable condition.

The condition of the driver is so far unknown.

The Falmouth police are investigating the incident.
