Update: St Ann principal charged for allegedly fondling boy

The principal of a St Ann-based school has been charged for allegedly fondling a boy.

The accused, 39-year-old Saloman Smith, of St Ann's Bay, St Ann, was slapped with charges of indecent assault on Tuesday, a day after being taken into custody.

Smith, who is the principal of the Brown's Town Primary School in the parish, is to appear in the St Ann Parish Court on Wednesday.

Loop News understands that the principal is accused of fondling the teen sometime this year. The boy reportedly informed his parents of the abuse and a report was subsequently made to the police on Monday.

Investigators from the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) questioned the educator on Monday before slapping him with the charge.
