UPDATE: Police identify men murdered in St Andrew
The police have released more information about the double murder in the Dallas Bridge area of Papine, St Andrew on Tuesday evening.
Officials from the St Andrew Central Police Division clarified on Wednesday morning that the incident took place in Papine, just outside of August Town, where it was initially reported to have occurred.
However, the two men who were killed have been identified as residents of Bedward Gardens, which falls within the August Town policing area.
They are 35-year-old Delano Lake, otherwise called ‘Bugleman’, and 24-year-old Nehemiah Martin.
Reports are that approximately 6:30 pm, residents in the area head explosions and alerted the police.
On the arrival of law enforcers, a search was carried out in the community and the bodies of two males were found on the roadway.
The police say they are now probing to determine the motive behind the killings.
But sources say the killings were reportedly carried out by men locked in an ongoing feud in and around the August Town area.
The killings come just weeks after authorities carried out a joint police/military operation in August Town following the killing of two men in the community in separate incidents within hours on October 26.
The men killed at that time were identified as Damion Ball, a 39-year-old resident of Golden Smith Villa and 25-year-old Carlyle Grant, of Barrett Drive, Kingston 7.
In the first incident, police said they were called to Princess Alice Drive section of the community at about 5:35 am, by residents who heard gunfire.
A search was carried out in the area and the body of Ball was found with gunshot wounds.
Police said they were processing that murder scene when they were alerted to another shooting incident, this time, on Barrett Drive, also in Kingston 7, where two other men were shot about 8:35 a.m.
Reports are that the men were walking along the road when thugs traveling in a Tiida motor vehicle drove up and opened fire hitting the two. The attackers then left the area.
The two injured men were rushed to the hospital where Grant was pronounced dead.
The other injured person remains in hospital.
