UPDATE: Man in custody for ‘chopping little sisters in Old Harbour’

The police are reporting that the man who was being sought in connection with the chopping of two little sisters in Old Harbour, St Catherine on Tuesday, is now in custody and is to be questioned by investigators.

The man who is reportedly a neighbour of the girls, turned himself in to the police on Wednesday night, and was subsequently arrested.

The injured girls, aged 11 and 13, remain hospitalised in serious but stable conditions.

Reports are that sometime after 9pm on Tuesday, the girls’ stepfather left them at home in the Marlie Acres community to go and meet their mother.

The male neighbour is believed to have then gone to the house where the girls were, where he reportedly held the 13-year-old girl and was in the process of sexually molesting her, when he was caught in the act by the other sister.

In response, the man reportedly became extremely violent, and inflicted chop wounds to both girls before fleeing the scene.

The girls' parents returned home and found them badly injured.

They were rushed to hospital, where they were admitted for treatment.
