More details have emerged regarding the fatal shooting incident in the Half Way Tree, St Andrew area on Monday morning.

According to the police, a 'loader-man' was shot and killed while standing on the entrance step of a bus by unknown assailants. He has been identified as 43 year-old George Morris of a Kingston 8 address. 

The incident, which occurred at the busy intersection of Eastwood Park Road and North Odeon Avenue, left the area inaccessible to motorists for hours.

According to police reports, Morris was loading a bus in the area when a car suddenly pulled up beside the public passenger vehicle. The assailants immediately opened fire, hitting Morris, who was standing on the step at the entrance of the bus, several times. Passengers in the bus were forced to dive for cover, but no one else was hurt in the incident. 

The Half Way Tree police are investigating.
