UPDATE: 15-year-old fatally stabbed at Edith Dalton James identified

The male student who was fatally stabbed by another at the Edith Dalton James High school in Duhaney Park, St Andrew on Thursday morning has been identified.

He is Clive Matherson, a 15-year-old, grade 10 student, of a New Haven address.

Reports reaching Loop News are that at about 11:30 am, Matherson and another grade 10 student had a physical altercation. During the melee, Matherson was stabbed by a sharp instrument.

He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The incident has left students and teachers in shock, while a number of persons at the scene expressed sadness at the loss of a young life. As news of the stabbing circulated, parents streamed into the school with worried looks on their faces.
