Universal Boss looks the one to beat in O & S Tack Room Trophy
Runners from the top three barns at Caymanas Park square off in Saturday’s O & S Tack Room Trophy feature at six and a half furlongs.
Leading trainer Anthony Nunes’ UNIVERSAL BOSS goes up against defending champion Wayne DaCosta’s pair of ROJORN DI PILOT and LADY BLUE whereas Gary Subratie’ third in the standings, has BOLD AFLAR and CRIMSON in the nine-horse field.
UNIVERSAL BOSS has been working great at exercise, clocking 1:13.2 for six furlongs on Sunday, and 1:06.1, three Wednesdays ago, beating stablemate PRINCE CHARLES at five and a half furlongs.
LADY BLUE has not looked as flashy but had used her class to win the Thornbird Stakes at seven furlongs and placed second in the 1000 Guineas at a mile behind I AM DI ONE in April.
BOLD AFLAIR recently chased home impressive SPARKLE DIAMOND, a five-furlong straight event in which LADY BLUE had finished fourth, but can turn around her form on the round course where she has run her best races.
However, if the speed horses run themselves into the ground, CRIMSON, who turned for home fourth in last month’s Jamaica St Leger could catch them in the stretch run.
If exercise reports are to be relied on, UNIVERSAL BOSS, who has a good high draw, post-position seven, from where apprentice Reyan Lewis should be able to judge the pace, should be the horse to beat at 112lb.
The O & S Tack Room Trophy is the 10th of 11 races scheduled and runs off at 5:25 p.m. First post is noon.
