U23 Reggae Boyz out of Pan American Games
Jamaica’s Under 23 team was eliminated from the football competition at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru on Thursday following a 2-0 defeat against defending champions Uruguay at the San Marcos Stadium.
Captain Leonardo Fernandez scored both goals for Uruguay, his strikes coming in the 61st and 72 minutes.
It was the second straight defeat for the Reggae Boyz as they were beaten 3-1 by Honduras in their opening Group B game on Monday.
With one set of matches to play in the group, Jamaica remain bottom of the four-team group without a point.
Uruguay are atop the group with maximum six points, which put them into the semi-finals. The defending champions are two-point clear of second-place Honduras (four points), which battled to a 2-2 draw with hosts Peru (one point).
Jamaica will round off their schedule against Peru on Sunday in a match scheduled to start at 8:30 pm (same time as Jamaica).
