Two shot dead in St James

Two persons were shot and killed Tuesday in a section of St James as a result of what the police believe to be a rift stemming from a fallout between a group of men involved in criminal activities.

The cops believe one of the deceased was caught by a stray bullet while the intended target was shot as a result of a feud with other men.

The police have not released the identities of the deceased.

Reports are that the shootings occurred about 1:00 pm in the Tucker section of the parish.

The double killing took place on what was supposed to be the final day of the first Zone of Special Operation (ZOSO) which was declared in the Mount Salem section of St James on September 1.

The ZOSO has since been extended in Mount Salem.

Since the declaration of the zone of special operation in Mount Salem residents report that the nightly sparodic shootings have ceased.

However, while no murders have been recorded in Mount Salem during this time, over 50 killings have been reported in other St James communities over the period.
