Two persons shot dead in St James within two-day period

Two persons were shot and killed in two separate incidents within a 24-hour period in St James as the guns continued to bark in that parish which  has been under a state of emergency  since April 30.

The deceased, both of St James, have been identified as 43-year-old Rodney Myles, otherwise called ‘Al’, a labourer of Rosemount Gardens; and 17-year-old Mark Powell of Princess Street, Montego Bay.

Powell was shot and killed in the Green Pond section of the parish.

Reports from the Montego Bay police are that sometime after midnight on Monday, they responded to reports of explosions heard in the Green Pond area, however, no one was seen on their arrival.

About 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, residents stumbled upon Powell’s body and summoned the police. On their arrival, the police saw the body lying in a dirt track in a pool of blood, with multiple gunshot wounds.

On Sunday, Myles was shot and killed by unknown assailants in his community.

Reports from the Mount Salem police are that about 12:05 a.m., residents heard explosions and summoned the police. On arrival of the law enforcers, Myles was seen with multiple gunshot wounds, and was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
