Two men arrested after cocaine valuing over $9 million seized

Police say they are now preparing to question the two men, who were held last week during an operation in Cave main Road, Westmoreland.

Police said a large quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of over nine million was seized in the vehicle occupied by the men.

Reports are that about 6:45 p.m., detectives stopped and searched a 2010 Audi motorcar occupied by the two men.

During the search of the vehicle, seven rectangular packages wrapped in brown masking tape were found inside the trunk.

Further checks revealed that the packages contained white powdery substance resembling cocaine.

Police said more checks revealed that the packages weighed approximately 17 pounds and had an estimated street value of nine million, two hundred and ninety thousand dollars (JMD 9,290,000.00). 

Both men were taken into custody and will be questioned in the presence of their attorney/s.

Investigations continue.
