Two drivers killed in Hanover crash

Two drivers died from injuries they sustained in a collision between a mini bus and a motorcar along a Hanover roadway on Wednesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as 50-year-old bus driver, Everton Riley, also called 'Cash Money' of Lucea, Hanover; and 25-year-old, Kevaughn Sutherland of High Level Road, Sandy Bay, Hanover.

Reports are that about 11:40 am, Riley was driving a minibus along the Barbican main road in a section of Sandy Bay, heading towards Lucea, while Sutherland was driving a Nissan Tiida motor car in the opposite direction when the two vehicle collided.

Both drivers were injured long with several other persons, including students who were occupants of the bus.

They were rushed to hospital where the drivers were pronounced dead.

The conditions of the injured passengers could not be ascertained up to the time of publication.

In 2018, 383 persons died on Jamaica's roads, the most since the 391 recorded back in 2003.
