Triple murder in New Bowens, Clarendon
Three men were shot dead in New Bowens district in Clarendon on Thursday night.
The incident pushed to eight, the number of violent deaths which have occurred in the parish over the last four days.
The three men were reportedly at a shop in New Bowens at about 8.45, when they were pounced on and shot dead by gunmen.
The deceased have been identified as 19-year-old Shadwayne Watson, 29-year-old Dermott Donaldson, and Eddie Fisher.
Reports are that a man was killed in a nearby shop on Tuesday night.
The nature of Tuesday's killing had led to the police keeping a close watch on the New Bowens community.
New Bowens as a community, was formed years ago when bauxite company Jamalco effected a relocation of the Bowens community that had come under intense environment challenges next door to the company's caustic mud lake.
New Bowens, which is located much further away from the bauxite company’s residual operations than the old Bowens community, is situated about four miles south of the parish capital, May Pen.
Since its formation, the community, which has been significantly developed, has experienced a notable level of violent crimes, with gang warfare believed to be at the heart of the security challenges there.
