Thugs reportedly attempt to firebomb police station

Hoodlums on Tuesday morning reportedly attempted to firebomb the Stadium Police Station along Arthur Wint Drive in St Andrew.

Police report that about 8:10 am, the thugs threw a Molotov cocktail bomb at the police station and made their escape.

Officers at the station called the Jamaica Fire Brigade and a team from the York Park Fire Department responded quickly and effectively managed the situation, according to the police.

No further details were provided. There were no reports of anyone being injured in the incident.

The incident happened amid protests by residents of Swallowfield over the fatal shooting of a man by police on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Cee Jay Lake of a Old Hope Road address.

Police report that Lake was fatally shot during a confrontation with lawmen and a homemade firearm with one .38 round was seized.
