Three transport operators held with over 1400 outstanding tickets

Members assigned to the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB) arrested three transport operators after they were found to have a combined total of 1489 outstanding tickets.

The men were held during a series of operations in Kingston and St. Catherine on Friday.

News of the operations comes just a week after another taxi driver and a bus operator were arrested following a routine traffic stop in the Corporate Area in which it was discovered that they had a combined total of 1,100 outstanding traffic tickets.

It also brings to five, the number of transport operators apprehended over the past seven days after they were found to have a combined total of 2589 outstanding traffic tickets.

The men who were apprehended in the latest set of operations on Friday are Roger Bartley, 40-year-old bus operator of Eltham View, Spanish Town, St. Catherine who had 1028 outstanding tickets.

Thirty-nine-year-old Andrew Bailey, a taxi operator of Tavern Crescent, Kingston 6 who had 272 outstanding tickets and Duwayne Barrett, a 36-year-old taxi operator of Stony Hill, St. Andrew who police said had 189 outstanding tickets.

The operations, which began about 8:00 a.m., revealed that the operators cumulatively had 1489 outstanding traffic tickets for which warrants were issued for their arrest.

They are to appear before the Kingston and St. Andrew Traffic Court on Monday, September 24, 2019.
