Three held in St Elizabeth ganja bust
Detectives arrested and charged three men after they were caught with marijuana with an estimated street value of over $700,000 in Lacovia, St. Elizabeth on Monday, May 7.
The men, who were arrested by cops from the Narcotics Division and charged for breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act, are; Glenford Welcome, a 56-year-old mechanic from Port Maria in St Mary, Kerron Wilson, a 37-year-old mechanic of Vineyard District in St Elizabeth, and Leroy Gordon, a 39-year-old farmer of Port Maria in St Mary.
They were charged with Possession of Ganja, Dealing in Ganja, Use of Conveyance and Conspiracy.
Reports are that about 5:00 p.m., the detectives conducted anti-narcotics operations in Lacovia, where two motor vehicles were signaled.
During a search of one of the cars, occupied by Wilson and Welcome, 14 black plastic bags with loose ganja weighing approximately 195 pounds and with an estimated street value of $780,000 JMD were seized.
Gordon, who was driving the second car, was also taken into custody under reasonable suspicion.
