Taxi operator charged after $1.3 million cocaine seizure
A taxi operator has been charged in connection with the seizure of more than $1 million worth of cocaine in Olympic Gardens, St Andrew on Saturday, June 1.
He is 30-year-old Courtney Baker of Arnett Gardens, Kingston 12.
Reports from the narcotics police are that about 11:00 a.m., Baker was driving a Toyota Probox motorcar in Olympic Gardens when he was signalled to stop, and complied.
The vehicle was subsequently searched and a rectangular parcel containing cocaine was reportedly found.
The motorcar and the parcel were seized and Baker was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and use of conveyance.
The drug weighs approximately one kilogram and has an estimated street value of $1.3 million.
Baker is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday, June 7.
Investigations continue into the seizure.
