Taxi driver Delroy Patrick, who was reportedly seen fighting a police officer in St Elizabeth in a video clip making the rounds on social media, is slated to face the Black River Parish Court later this week on multiple charges.

The ‘robot’ taxi driver from Black River has been booked for offences including the original traffic breach for which he was stopped, having no seat belt, being abusive to the police officer, resisting arrest and assaulting the police.

The four-minute video showed Patrick vigorously fighting off the policeman and hurling insults at the cop when they got into an argument after the police officer stopped him for an alleged traffic violation in Black River last Saturday.

"The police were in the process of prosecuting him for traffic violations when he (reportedly became abusive. The police decided to arrest him and he (allegedly) assaulted the police in an effort to prevent them from arresting him. He was eventually arrested," a a liaison officer from the Corporate Communication Unit (CCU), the information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) told Loop News.
