A tank caught fire at the Petrojam Refinery on Wednesday morning.
Reports are that the fire broke out around 4 am, with the company activating its emergency response plan immediately after.
The fire was extinguished by a joint team of firefighters from Petrojam and the Jamaica Fire Brigade, and cooling down operations are still ongoing.
In a news release, Petrojam said: “We wish to inform our customers that the fire will not impact our supply of petroleum products to the market. The Kingston Loading Rack is open for operations and tankers are being loaded at present.”
There are no reports of injuries or loss of life.
The company said it has taken all the necessary measures to prevent or minimise the impact of fire.
