Sygnus Credit led gains during Thursday’s trading of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) in a largely sombre day of trading in which declines outnumbered gainers.
The company gained 9.1 per cent to close at US$0.10. Lasco Distributors gained 4.0 per cent to close at $3.64. Caribbean Flavours and Fragrances was the top declining stock down 10.6 per cent to close at $14.30
The JSE Combined Index declined by 2,849.01 points ( 0.65 per cent) to close at 435,160.24.
The JSE Index declined by 3,114.03 points ( 0.71 per cent) to close at 436,242.73. The JSE Financial Index declined by 0.80 points ( 0.71 per cent) to close at 112.00.
The overall Market activity resulted from trading in 56 stocks of which 20 advanced, 25 declined and 11 traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 40,829,383 units valued at over $255,601,307.79. Wigton Windfarm was the volume leader with 34,719,107 units (85.03per cent) followed by Sagicor Group Jamaica with 2,353,328 units (5.76per cent) and Scotia Group Jamaica with 1,190,960 units (2.92per cent).
