Supreme Ventures donates $2 million to five schools
Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), wholly-owned subsidiary of Supreme Ventures Limited has announced that it will be contributing $2 million to five schools in Portmore to assist with upgrades and repairs for the new school year.
“We went around and had a look at the schools directly within the vicinity of Caymanas Park and chose the ones we felt were in greatest need,” said Kathryn Clark-Spencer, SVREL Marketing and Operations Manager.
According to Spencer Independence City Primary, Gregory Park Primary, Cedar Grove Basic, Gregory Park Basic and Waterford Primary are the recipients of repair work ranging in cost from $250,000 to $500,000 each.
The SVREL team visited Independence City Primary and Cedar Grove Basic on Monday to hand over their symbolic cheque, as well as to hand out back-to-school packages for the students .
The team will do the same at Gregory Park Basic and Primary on Wednesday, September 6, and Waterford Primary on Monday, September 11.
“We feel it’s very important as a corporate entity, to contribute to the development of those in the community in which we operate, as well as to the development of the community itself. Education at the basic and primary levels are so important, that we thought this was a great way to show our continued commitment to Portmore.
We’re conscious of the needs in the community, and have done what we can in our first six months. We look forward to doing more as time goes on,” said Brando Hayden, SVREL Chief Operating Officer.
Hayden further disclosed that the schools will not receive the funds directly, as SVREL will provide the necessary material and contract the teams to work on the schools, to the amount pledged. “Students need the right environment to learn, and anything we can do to enhance that experience is something we are proud of,” he added.
