Suspects being sought in relation to St Ann’s Bay market shooting

Just days after the shooting of five persons at the St Ann's Bay Market, investigators say they are making steady progress in the case, as suspects are being sought in relation to the incident.

The police are also reporting that two of the injured persons remain hospitalised, while the others have been treated and released.

Reports are that about 1am, the police received reports from residents that several shots were heard in the St Ann’s Bay Market.

A police team went to the area to investigate, and five persons, including two 18-year-old females, were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

Based on an initial probe, it was revealed that persons were at a bar inside the market, when gunmen approached and opened fire.

The injured persons were taken to hospital for treatment.

Up to the time of publication, a motive for the gun attack has still not been established, but detectives are working to make a breakthrough in the case.

Meanwhile, the police are maintaining a presence in the market, to ensure that calm is fully restored to the area.
