Suspect held for Jamaican-Canadian couple’s recent murder in St Thomas

The St Thomas police have arrested a suspect in relation to the double murder of an elderly, Canada-based Jamaican couple in Retreat, St Thomas on Tuesday, January 9.

Following preliminary investigations, the suspect was held in Seaforth district, St Thomas on Wednesday, February 7. He is to be questioned in the presence of his attorney.

His identity is being withheld, pending further investigations.

Reports are that on Tuesday, January 9, about 10:30 a.m., 81-year-old Melbourne Flake and his wife, 70-year-old Etta Flake, were found at their home motionless, with their hands and feet bound.

The police were alerted, and the victims were taken to hospital, where they were both pronounced dead.

In the meantime, the police are appealing to anyone who can assist them with their investigations into a triple murder which occurred in Georgia district, St Thomas on Saturday, January 20, to contact the Morant Bay Criminal Investigation Branch.
