The St Catherine South police are reporting that one of the suspects in relation to the killing of Laetitia Francis, a policeman's mother, at her home in Old Harbour, St Catherine on Thursday, February 6, is now in police custody.

The man, whose name is being withheld, turned himself in to the Old Harbour police on Friday, February 7.

He is to be interviewed in the presence of his attorney.

Fifty-seven-year-old Francis, a shopkeeper, was shot dead by men at her establishment at about 11.47 am on Thursday. Francis is the mother of a police officer who was involved in the fatal shooting of one of two men who reportedly attacked the police in Old Harbour recently.

The threat level in the area has since being elevated, a release from the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the police’s information arm, indicated.
