Suspect in custody for ex-cop's killing in Portland
The suspect who was being sought in connection with Friday morning's killing of a retired police corporal in Portland, is now in custody.
Ajardo Lawrence, otherwise called ‘Cutty’ or ‘Gaza’, has been held for the stabbing death of Homer Davis, popularly known as ‘Silver Fox’, on Seaview Farm Road in Portland on Friday morning.
It is alleged that ahead of his death, Davis, 66, had intervened in a dispute between a woman and her ex-boyfriend.
Reports to Loop News are that sometime after midnight, Davis was sitting in his vehicle in front of a bar along Seaview Farm Road, when the woman's ex-lover approached and demanded to speak with her.
She went inside the bar with the man and a heated argument developed between them.
It is further reported that the retired policeman intervened and the man pulled a knife, which was used to inflict several stab wounds to Davis’ head and other sections of his upper body.
The former lawman died at the hospital, while his attacker fled the scene.
However, it has been confirmed that the suspect was held about 6:30 the same morning.
The parish of Portland has four murders on record since the start of this year.
