Supreme Court holding area cops reportedly contract TB on the job

Three policemen who were assigned to the holding area of the Supreme Court in downtown Kingston have reportedly contracted tuberculosis (TB).

The Police Federation is investigating the development in which it is suspected that the men were infected while guarding a prisoner who had the disease.

It is understood that one of the policemen has been admitted to hospital in a serious condition, while the other two are receiving treatment after visiting their private physicians.

TB is a serious infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs.

The bacteria that cause TB are spread from one person to another through tiny droplets that are released into the air by coughing and sneezes.
